Superintendent and Mayor announce Citywide Book Club book selections for 2006-07

Saint Paul Public Schools Superintendent Meria Carstarphen and Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman announced their choices for the Citywide Book Club today. For adults and secondary students, they chose “The Things They Carried,” a collection of 22 interrelated, short fictional episodes about Vietnam by Tim O’Brien, a Minnesota native.

Based on results of the MCA II test—which included a math assessment taken by students in grades 3-8 and 11, plus a reading assessment taken by students in grades 3-8 and 10—the Saint Paul Public School district, as a whole, is making adequate yearly progress (AYP), as defined by the state.
