Saint Paul students to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with Jan. 12 event at the Minnesota History Center

More then 200 performers from Saint Paul Public Schools will sing, dance and read poetry at the 17th annual celebration commemorating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at the Minnesota History Center’s 3M Auditorium, 345 W. Kellogg Blvd., Saint Paul.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Working in Unity to Build the Dream.” Performers include students from Crossroads Elementary, Capitol Hill Magnet, Battle Creek Elementary, Highland Park Elementary, Museum Magnet, Humboldt Junior High, Harding Senior High and other Saint Paul public schools.

The event is co-sponsored by the Saint Paul Public Schools and Minnesota Historical Society. It is open to the public and admission is free. For more information about the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, call Kris Emerson at (651) 767-8234, or the Minnesota History Center at (651) 296-9108.
