| | Harvey recommends looking into expanding choice 3/10/2004 10:35 AMSuperintendent Patricia Harvey recommended to the Saint Paul Board of Education a serious study of expanding transportation service to neighborhood schools.
The recommendation came after the school district conducted a Community Conversation on School Choice from August 2002 to April 2003 to gather public feedback on the ways students and families select and enroll in schools.
"From the many things we heard that we can and should do to make our system work for all students and families, there is one fundamental policy issue that I believe should become an immediate subject of the board's attention," Harvey told the school board. "That issue is expanding transportation service for Saint Paul's 20 neighborhood schools."
The board of education voted to conduct a study. More information about the issue will be available at upcoming board meetings.
