Capitol Hill Gifted and Talented Magnet School
Capitol Hill is a full-time academically gifted and talented program for students in grades 1-8. Students experience a challenging academic program designed to develop skills in critical and creative thinking. The fast paced learning environment combined with complex content allow for in-depth study in many areas.

History

The school started in 1991 and is housed with two other magnet schools at the Rondo Education Center. The building, formerly the world distribution headquarters for Control Data Corporation, was purchased by the school district in 1990. After extensive remodeling this previous industrial complex became the Rondo Education Center and opened in 1991. The center was named after Joseph Rondo, who owned a large tract of land northeast of the Cathedral.

AYP, MCA-II, SAT-10

  • Has exceeded state proficiency targets for NCLB in reading and in math as measured by the MCA-II, and made AYP for each year of NCLB implementation.
  • Outperformed the state in reading and in math overall (combining grades 3-8) and at each grade level, as measured by the percent of students proficient on the 2006 MCA-II.
  • Achieved SAT10 growth at or above the district average in reading for all grade levels and subgroups for which sufficient data are available.
