Last September, SPPS administration presented to the Board of Education carefully prepared data about the past, present and possible future of our schools and school district. This is in response to the academic, financial and operational challenges and trends we have been facing for many years, and that are predicted to become more challenging.

Large Scale System Community Engagement Meetings: Preliminary Summary
Throughout November and December more than 1500 parents, staff, and community members took time out of their busy schedules to learn more about the need for change in the school district. Participants also provided feedback on what is working well (what should not change), what is not working well (what should change), and additional suggestions and questions to consider as we move forward.
Literally, hundreds of comments and questions were shared and captured at the sessions. A preliminary summary of what was learned at the engagement sessions is available here. A final summary will be completed in January, shared with the Superintendent and Board of Education, and posted here.
As this process moves forward, we will continue to keep you apprised of additional important information and opportunities for engagement. In addition to the final summary of comments/questions being completed in January, data from the Facilities Conditions and Educational Adequacy Assessments Report will be available in March 2009. Recommendations for LSSC will be developed between February and May; these recommendations will be shared and presented to the Board of Education in Spring 2009.
