Degrees and Certifications:
Hello my name is Ann Young. I have been working at Capitol Hill since 1992. I taught 3rd grade at Capitol Hill for 5 years and have been teaching second grade at since 1997. I have experience with the Gifted Program being both a teacher and a parent who had three of my own children attend the school. Prior to teaching at Capitol Hill I taught Kindergarten for 3 years in the St. Paul school district.
I attended Vermillion College located in my home city of Ely, Minnesota for one year and graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a degree in K-6 Elementary in 1987. I received my Masters in Education from Winona State University in 1988 while teaching Kindergarten in Rochester, Minnesota. Prior to teaching for the St. Paul school district I taught Pre-School at a Kinder Care in North Oaks.
I live in St. Paul with my husband, 3 sons, and dog Cooper. I enjoy attending my children's sports events, and camping with family and friends. Spending time at the cabin up north is also a favorite family pass time of ours. Some of my hobbies are reading mystery novels, writing poetry, yoga, fishing, baking, biking, and taking walks with our dog Cooper.
If you need to contact me at any time during the day I can be reached at 325-2518 which will go directly to voice mail. The best times to call to get direct contact is 7:45-8:15 am and 3:15-3:45. I also appreciate an early voice mail message or a hand written note from you about bussing issues if your child is getting a ride instead of taking the bus home, if your child was out ill from school or will be missing a day of school for family issues or doctor appointments.
You can also contact me at my email address firstname.lastname@example.org for messages, but for bus issues please send an early voice mail or written note.
I am looking forward to a "toadally" awesome "unfroggetable" second grade year! Ribbit! Ribbit!
