jFrost Lake Magnet School of Technology and Global Studies is in
its third and final year of a federal Arts ABLE grant. This grant has
transformed the way teachers teach and deepened the way students
learn. Our arts partner, COMPAS, has an outstanding roster of
highly experienced, professional artists. We are very grateful to
have worked with COMPAS for this third year and final year of the grant.
Frost Lake now has an “art gallery” where Principal Annamrie Erbes unveiled the following fabulous Arts ABLE mural:
Below are only a few of the outstanding artists from COMPAS who have
brought their incredible talents to our teachers, students and family
members over the last three years:
* John Acosta, who directed and taught SEM and Learning Center students how to create the above mural.
* Theater artist T. Mychael Rambo, who taught
kindergarten and fourth grade students how to perform at a Global Book
of the Month Gathering.
* Nora Murphy, poet-in-residence who taught
multicultural poetry helping students value and appreciate the
traditions of how parents name their children.
* Tou Saiko Lee, a Hmong spoken word Hip Hop artist.
