Gifted testing for non-public students available, register by Dec. 19

Saint Paul Public Schools offers free gifted services testing forfirst- through fifth-grade students enrolled in private, parochial andcharter schools in Saint Paul. The deadline for registration is Dec.19. The test determines if a student qualifies for gifted educationwithin Saint Paul Public Schools. It also determines eligibility toapply to Capitol Hill Gifted and Talented Magnet School, a publicschool in Saint Paul.

Non-public school students may register for the following days; the test takes about an hour:
  • Saturday, Jan. 10, 9 a.m. (grades K-2) and 10:30 a.m. (grades 3-5) at Arlington Senior High School, 1495 Rice St.
OR
  • Tuesday, Jan. 13, 5 p.m. (grades K-2) and 6:30 p.m. (grades 3-5) at the main District Office, 360 Colborne St.

SaintPaul Public Schools uses the Naglieri Non-verbal Ability Test, secondedition (NNAT2) to begin assessment of gifted learners. According tothe publisher, NNAT2 the test indicates a student's ability levelregardless of language, educational or cultural background. The NNAT2has been used in school districts across the country.

Saint PaulPublic Schools Gifted Services provide challenging and fast-pacedlearning programs for students enrolled in the district who have theability to do work at a level above what is expected at their grade inschool. To learn more about Gifted Services in Saint Paul visit gifted.spps.org
