Maxfield Magnet School to receive library renovation from Heart of America & Target

MEDIA ADVISORY - TARGET/HEART OF AMERICA DECISION WAS MADE TODAY (MONDAY Jan. 26) AFTERNOON - EVENT TUESDAY MORNING AT 9:30 A.M.

Announcement of renovation of media center at Maxfield Magnet School ofAcademic Excellence by Target and Heart of America Foundation. As partof the morning's event, a group of students will imagine and draw theirdream library.

Summary:
Heart of America and Targetofficials toured media centers at three Saint Paul Public Schools onMonday, Jan. 26 to select one for renovation. Tuesday's announcementbegins the months-long process of creating and installing a new mediacenter at Maxfield Magnet School of Academic Excellence. The workculminates with an unveiling ceremony at the school during NationalVolunteer Week, April 19-25. Target and Heart of America are partnersin a national campaign to renovate school libraries.

A pro bonoTarget Property Development team will be directly involved in creatingthe new library space, along with Target Volunteers who will completefinal installations in April. The school will receive a donation of2,000 new books and each student will receive 7 books for his or herhome library.

In addition, two schools - University Academiesfor Boys and Girls at North End Elementary School and JacksonPreparatory Magnet School - also were considered for this project. Eachwill receive a donation from Heart of America and Target of 2,000 booksfor their media center collections.

A celebration to unveil therenovated media center with Maxfield Magnet School students and theirfamilies is planned for the week of April 19-25. More information onthat event will be provided in April.
