VIOLATION:
Alcohol:
Possession, use, or being under the influence of any alcoholic product while on school grounds or at school-sponsored activities
MINIMUM DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Immediate notification of police; suspension; referral for a chemical health evaluation.
VIOLATION:
Tobacco:
Possession or use of any type of tobacco product by astudent will be governed by Minnesota Statutes and school board policyregarding smoking.
MINIMUM DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Student conference; smoking ticket issued. Three cumulativeviolations will result in a referral to Ramsey County Attorney.

VIOLATION:
Criminal Acts:
Commission of an act, on school property or inthe course of a school-sponsored or school-associated activity, thatwould be a crime if committed by an adult.
MINIMUM DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Immediate police notification; suspension; possible expulsion.
VIOLATION:
Gambling:
The playing of a game of chance for stakes.
MINIMUM DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Student conference.
VIOLATION:
Gang Activity:
Student misconduct may alsoconstitute gang activity if it meets all of the followingcriteria: (1) The student/participant belongs to or associateswith (2) a group of three or more people who band together under acommon identifying symbol, sign, or name and (3) the participant, whileunder the supervision of Saint Paul Public School personnel,participates in one or more of the violations listed in the StudentBehavior Handbook to further an implicit or explicit goal of thegang/group.
MINIMUM DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
First Incident:
Up to 10 day suspension; behavior contract upon return; inform student(s) and parent(s) of expulsion potential.
Second Incident:
Up to 10 day suspension; convene PupilProblems Committee; review behavior contract; reinforce expulsionpotential with student and parent(s).
Third Incident:
Up to 10 day suspension; reconvene Pupil Problems Committee; recommend expulsion.
