Students are presented with a safe, orderly, and structured learning
environment. Prosperity Heights Elementary is a nationally recognized
Title I school for “Beating the Odds” in outstanding student academic
achievement.
Demographics (2006-07)
- 372 students (PreK - 6)
- 83% students receiving free or reduced-price meals
- 43% English Language Learners
- 13% Special Education
History The original school was built in 1924 and consisted of three portable classrooms connected by a corridor. A 1949 parent protest of an inadequate school building helped persuade the district to construct a new building in 1953.
SAT-10 Math Results (2005-06) Prosperity Heights students are making gains at faster rate than the district in grades 4, 5 and 6; and are scoring similarly to the district average in grade 3.
For all grades,
- 94% of Asian American students are at or above average
- 79% of Latino/Hispanic students are at or above average
- 89% of African American students are at or above average
- 91% of Caucasian students are at or above average
