Saint Paul Public Schools Celebrate 150 Years
Students from the Class of 1910, Central High School, St. Paul. Photograph collection 1910. -Minnesota Historical Society.
When it comes to people, some would prefer not to call attention to
their age . Not so with us. This year marks the Saint Paul Public
Schools' 150th Anniversary giving us plenty of reasons to celebrate.
With Pride in our Past and Faith in our Future, let's celebrate 150
years of outstanding people,

places, and events in Saint Paul Public Schools.
In
1856, a small group of citizens decided that a school district must be
established. The mindset was that if excellence is the goal, then “good
schools would attract good settlers.”
150 years later, our
district proudly serves more than

41,000 students. Because we are a
large urban district, we can give our students a world of opportunites.
We
are proud that our public schools have bragging rights to having
educated many of our nations’ leaders. Thousands of students from our
district have gone on to great success.
