Many Principals Remain at Schools Graded ‘F’
Since the mayor made his ominous pronouncement at a news conference in November, new principals have been put in place at 14 of the schools rated “F,” according to the Education Department records. Three of those 14 schools are scheduled to close in the next few years. Five others among the 52 “F” schools have already been shuttered, and one more will soon be closed.

Does MPS provide adequate support in response?
Since the implementation of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) in 2001, much has been reported on how average students — particularly students of color — are fairing in the educational system. Although students, parents and teachers tend to be in agreement with the statistics generated through mandatory testing, there is less agreement on how to respond to the information.
