Students, staff, alumni, and Superintendent Meria Carstarphen.
What:
A citywide celebration of the 150th anniversary of Saint
Paul Public Schools, featuring a parade that will include floats for
each of the district’s current and former high schools, several high
school and junior high bands, ROTC units, kazoos, classic cars, and
marching units representing all current Saint Paul public schools.
When:
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006
- Parade steps off at 10 a.m.
- After the parade arrives at the Stadium at approximately 11:45
p.m., Superintendent Meria Carstarphen will make brief remarks, and the
combined bands will lead everyone in singing “The Star-Spangled Banner”
and “Happy Birthday.”
- Student entertainment will continue from noon to 2 p.m.
Where:
The parade will begin at Maxfield Elementary School
(located on the northeast corner of I-94 and Victoria). It will then
travel south on Victoria Avenue and west on Marshall Avenue to Griffin
Stadium at Central High School (located on the northwest corner
of Lexington and Marshall).
Why: To celebrate the historical legacy and inspiring achievements of the Saint Paul Public Schools.
