9/28/2006 3:00 PM

Saint Paul Public Schools Superintendent Meria Carstarphen announced today that Dr. Deb Henton will serve as the new Chief of Staff for Saint Paul Public Schools effective Oct. 18, 2006.

“I have been working with Dr. Henton since my arrival in July and have witnessed how committed she is to providing a quality education to Saint Paul students and to supporting staff as they serve our students and families,” Carstarphen said.  “She has a keen awareness of our schools, programs and the school district, and I look forward to working closely with her as we move forward with our improvement planning.”

Henton, who is currently Executive Director of Alternative Learning Programs for Saint Paul Public Schools, previously served as principal of Harding High School for four years, an assistant principal in Stillwater Public Schools, and a teacher in South Washington County Schools.  Henton came to the school district during the 2000-01 school year.

Henton received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  She earned a Master of Arts in Education and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
