Saint Paul, Minn – Parents hoping to glean a peek into their children’s educations are encouraged to join with others nationally Monday, February 11, 2008, as family members gear up to take their children to school or visit their children at school. National African American Parent Involvement Day is a chance for families of all backgrounds to join in conversations and events surrounding their community’s schools.

NAAPID is a national call to action to get parents more involved in their educational lives. It is expected that this observation will open up dialogue among teachers, parents and students, which will lead to a more conducive learning environment for students of all backgrounds from kindergarten through college.

Many schools in the district celebrate NAAPID, or Family Involvement Day, with organized events including poetry readings, essay presentations and meals throughout the day.
