Saint Paul, Minn – Over four days next week, Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) Office of Safety and Security will host up to 400 school officials from around Minnesota during its annual Safety and Security Institute.
The program, made possible by a federal grant, allows people to explore and learn about school security issues ranging from bullying and early signs of destructive youth behavior to how concealed weapons can be spotted. Attendees will also learn about how to develop a school safety plan and the importance of selling safety to students, staff members, and their families.
“We want to give officials the tools they need to do the best they can to keep everyone in and around their schools safe and secure, providing the best learning environment for their students,” said William Waterkamp, Safety and Security Officer for SPPS.
Speaking at the seminar will be Michael Dorn, an internationally recognized school safety expert who has authored and co-authored 20 books on the subject to date.
