School meal program can help Saint Paul Public Schools families hit by tough economic times
Free or reduced-price school meals may be available for Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) families who are experiencing a financial hardship, even if that hardship is temporary.
A household of four with a weekly income of $755 or less may qualify for the program. Families who receive Food Stamps, MFIP, WIC or FDPIR benefits may also qualify by completing an application.
"Our free or reduced-price school meal program is a great way to help our families ensure that their children are getting the healthy meals that contribute to the strong mind and healthy body that are key to a child's success," said Jean Ronnei, director of Nutrition & Commercial Services for SPPS.
Applications for the program are available in English, Hmong, Spanish and Somali. Phone translation services are also available if you have questions on how to complete the application.
Families with students who attend a SPPS can call (651) 603-4954 for more information about the program or to have an application mailed to them.
