Volunteers and partners band together to give Battle Creek Junior High a facelift, honor staff members

What: Up to 50 volunteers from Hands On Twin Cities, 3M and the communitywill descend on Battle Creek Middle School, to help with landscaping,the painting of murals and construction of benches for baseball andsoftball fields. Among the landscaping highlights will be the plantingof a "Garden of Sisterhood," a collection of pink tulips in the shapeof the iconic pink ribbon which signifies breast cancer awareness. The garden will help wrap up the school's core value of sisterhood andbrotherhood and is dear to Battle Creek staff members, several of whomhave battled breast cancer.
Where: Battle Creek Middle School 2121 N. Park Drive Saint Paul, MN 55119
When: Friday, October 24th, 2008. Projects begin at 12:40 p.m. and continue until 3 p.m. Students begin collaborating with volunteers at 1 p.m.
Why: The work is part of the September / October Corporate Month ofService, a national initiative to increase community impact throughcorporate leadership in volunteerism and community involvement. Thevolunteers want to show the pride that the community, students andstaff members have in their school.
