Volunteers from Target help Longfellow Magnet prepare for start of school

Saint Paul, Minn.- On Friday, August 22, approximately 175 Target team members willvolunteer their morning to work inside and outside at LongfellowHumanities Magnet School preparing the school for Sept. 2 - whenstudents arrive for their first day. Between 9 a.m. and noon on Friday,media are welcome to visit the school, talk with the principal andvolunteers and take photos and video of this volunteer effort.

The Target team of volunteers is planning the following:
  • painting murals around the library,
  • gardening and light landscaping,
  • paint "ABCs" and a world map on the playground,
  • and add benches outside of the school.

Targetteam members strive to make a difference in the community by generouslygiving their time, talent and personal contributions. Target gives morethan $3 million a week to its local communities through grants andspecial programs.

The volunteer event was developed and will bemanaged by Hands On Twin Cities whose mission is to bring peopletogether to strengthen communities through meaningful volunteer action.
