Board of Education invites community to Listening Session Feb.12

Saint Paul, Minn.- The Saint Paul Public Schools Board of Education will hold the firstof three Listening Sessions to be held the remainder of this schoolyear on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the HubbsLiteracy Center, 1030 University Ave, W.

The ListeningSessions, part of the Board of Education's community engagement, aredesigned to allow participants the opportunity to speak with boardmembers in an open forum with no pre-determined topics.  The sessionsare similar to town hall meetings held by state legislators to connectwith constituents.

At least two Board of Education memberswill participate in each session to listen and talk about topics andissues participants choose to address.  The Listening Sessions are inaddition to, and less formal than, public comment during regular Boardof Education meetings held each month.  They are not Board meetings,but will be hosted and facilitated by Board members who are lookingforward to hearing what people have to say.

Board membersparticipating in the Listening Session will share discussion from thesession with Board colleagues at the earliest opportunity following thelistening session.
