Saint Paul students take center stage at Ordway Center

Music will be in the air and art will be everywhere the evening of April 26 as Saint Paul Public School students take center stage at Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and display artwork at the Minnesota Museum of American Art.

Saint Paul's 14th Annual Honors Concert & Art Exhibit showcases the talents of the "best of the best" high school musicians, vocalists and artists in the Saint Paul Public
Schools. More than 300 Saint Paul students will participate in the event downtown Saint Paul on Tuesday, April 26, 2005.

An Artists' Reception will kick off the evening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Minnesota Museum of American Art, located at Kellogg Boulevard at Market Street in downtown Saint Paul. Paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and other works of art by Saint Paul Public Schools students
were judged and selected for the exhibit by professional artists. The student artwork will be on exhibit at the museum for public viewing April 26 through May 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursdays; and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays. Student work chosen for the visual arts show is presented in collaboration with the Minnesota Museum of American Art.

A
World Party precedes the Honors Concert from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. at Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, Marzitelli Foyer, 345 Washington St., Saint Paul. The World Party features small instrumental and vocal student ensembles from Saint Paul elementary and junior high schools.

The Honors Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Ordway Center's Main Hall and features performances by a citywide orchestra, band
and choir. Students were selected to perform from special auditions held earlier this spring. Students participating in the concert will perform under the direction of professional conductors.
