Dropouts invited back to school 8/23/2004 8:40 AMThe Saint Paul Public Schools Diploma Completion Program will hold a re-enrollment event for people of all ages who left school before earning their high school diploma. Come Back to School Days is from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, and Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Student Placement Center, 2102 University Ave.
The event is designed to make it fast and easy for people to re-enroll in a Saint Paul public school, arrange a flexible class schedule and start earning credits toward graduation. School district employees will be on hand to help fill out paperwork and provide guidance.
We dont care how long people have been gone or how many credits they need to graduate, said Christopher Olley, who runs the program for the district. We just want them to come in, fill out some paperwork and start making progress toward graduation and a brighter future.
Anyone who has left any school in any school district without earning a high school diploma is invited to attend the re-enrollment event. Saint Paul Public Schools has an extensive array of alternative learning programs designed to help students of all abilities and ages make progress toward earning their high school diplomas. Since the Diploma Completion Program began during the 2003-04 school year, more than 150 dropouts have come back to school and started earning credits toward graduation.
More information about how to re-enroll in school during Come Back to School Days or any other time of the year is available by calling (651) 632-3701.
