Saint Paul students to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with Jan. 18 event at the Minnesota History Center

More than 200 performers from Saint Paul Public Schools will sing, dance and read poetry at the 18th annual celebration commemorating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at the Minnesota History Center’s 3M Auditorium, 345 W. Kellogg Blvd., Saint Paul.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Pause to Celebrate, Heal, Teach, Learn and Grow. Let the Work of Freedom and Peace Continue.” Performers include students from Como Park Senior High School, and Farnsworth, North End, and Linwood A+ elementary schools.

The event is sponsored by the Saint Paul Public Schools, the Minnesota Historical Society and the Governor’s Commission of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Statewide Celebration.
