| Great Blue Heron Will be at Ames Lake--For Good 5/24/2004 1:55 PMThanks to students at Cleveland Quality Middle School, the Great Blue Heron will always have a home at Ames Lake in Saint Paul. At 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 55 eighth-grade students will unveil the bronze Great Blue Heron sculpture they created at a community celebration on the south side of the lake, which is located near the intersection of Prosperity Ave. and Johnson Parkway on Saint Paul's East Side. The sculpture, which students hope will inspire environmental consciousness in the community, will stand four feet off the ground with a three-foot wing-span. It is the byproduct of year's worth of lessons on Ames Lake, its water quality, plants and animals and history. The unveiling ceremony will include a the Cleveland Middle School choir performing original compositions that celebrate Minnesota's waters, rivers and environmental stewardship. | ||||
