| Elementary Teacher Is Finalist in National Magazine Contest 9/29/2006 3:16 PMElementary Teacher Is Finalist in National Magazine Contest Judy Bjorklund, who teaches second grade at Roosevelt Elementary School, has been notified that she is a finalist in the Woman’s Day/Poise Rising Star Awards Contest. Bjorklund has been an elementary teacher in urban schools for nearly 25 years. In addition to going above and beyond the call of duty in the classroom, she also gives to the community around school. For example, once a month—rain or shine (or snow!)—she and her students walk five blocks to a nearby nursing home to sing songs and do projects with the residents. The essay nominating Bjorklund for the award is posted at WomansDay.com. |
