| How to Connect with the Faith-Based Community: Free workshop 4/10/2008 4:42 PMMedia Advisory Office of Community Relations Contact: Brett Johnson - (651) 767-8107 Who: Pastor Tommy McClam, Youth Pastor at Elim Christian Fellowship in Buffalo, New York, who is well-known for his work with Elim Community Corporation's "Girls to Women" and "Boys to Men" mentoring programs, and for his presentations for the federal Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools What: A free workshop, How to Connect with the Faith-Based Community; includes a panel discussion with African American pastors from St. Paul churches, and a presentation by representatives from Muslim, Jewish and Christian organizations about their views on community/faith-based programs. McClam will speak in the afternoon, focusing on the following objectives: Defining the faith-based community; identify the faith-based recruitment pool; determine ways to connect, and collaborate; discover ways to open lines of communication within faith-based communities. When: Thursday, April 24, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Where: Administration Building, 360 Colborne St., Saint Paul Why: Faith-based communities play an important part in the lives of many families. Knowing how to work with them effectively can help educators, mentors and others who work with youth. Other information: The workshop is free and open to the public; because space is limited, registration will be on a first come, first served basis.
