In order to ensure that families and students are able to celebrate the hard work students have made on their paths to graduation, Saint Paul Public Schools is providing free transportation to and from the RiverCentre, which is near the Xcel Energy Center where Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is expected to appear Tuesday evening. Buses will pick up families and students with tickets to graduation or a cap and gown at the Sears parking lot beginning approximately one hour before their student’s graduation ceremony. The buses will return them to the parking lot immediately following the event. Taking these shuttles is not mandatory, but is an option for families hoping to avoid possible traffic and parking challenges near the RiverCentre “We want to make it as easy as possible for our families to recognize the successes of our graduates as we celebrate with them,” said Joe Raasch, Deputy Chief Operations Officer. “While the shuttles are not mandatory, they may be the most efficient way to travel to and from the ceremonies.” Families also can expect a phone message reminding them of the service in the coming days, Raasch said. The shuttles will leave from the south parking lot of Sears near Marion Street with departures scheduled at the following times: Highland High School: Shuttle service will commence from the Sears parking lot beginning at 4:15 p.m. Return shuttle service will commence approximately 15 minutes after the ceremony’s close. Central High School: Shuttle service will commence from the Sears parking lot beginning at 6:45 p.m. Return shuttle service will commence approximately 15 minutes after the ceremony’s close. ### | ||||
