During National African American Parent Involvement Day, Hamline Elementary School and Jie Ming Mandarin Immersion Academy invites ALL families  to the “HAMline Experience: Helping, Affirming and Motivating Our Future Leaders for Success.”  Enjoy transformative dialogue with the principal, Bobbie Johnson, as she shares the vision for Hamline students and the role each of us play in its manifestation.  Additionally, hear from Hamline University’s President, Dr. Fayneese Miller and CEO of AM Horizons, Andre Koen encouraging us to affirm and confirm our future leaders. Plus, have lunch with your student(s), visit classrooms and enjoy student performances!

9:30am – Helping: Igniting the Flame (light refreshments)
Enjoy transformative dialogue with the principal, Bobbie Johnson, as she shares the vision
for Hamline students and the role each of us play in its manifestation. A question and
answer session will follow.

10:00am – Affirmation: Encouraging the Flame
Hear from the President of Hamline University, Dr. Fayneese Miller encouraging us in the
collective impact when we, as a community, affirm and confirm our future leaders. This will
be an enriching and transformative session for families and community members!


11:00am – 12:50 Classroom Visits
Throughout the day, join your child(ren) in the classroom.
1:00 – Motivation: Manifestation of Dreams & Hard work
If you missed President Miller from Hamline University or want to continue discovering
ways that we can unite to enrich the educational journey of our students, then you DO NOT
want to miss this session with renown author and orator Andre Koen. Mr. Koen, CEO of
AMHorizons, will enlighten and call families, community members and staff to action
speaking from the topic “ALL Children Matter.”


2:00 – Student Assembly

Lunch
Have lunch with your child(ren)! In order to keep our instructional day flowing smoothly
we ask that, if possible, you join your student during their lunchtime rather than pull them
from class.
