    The Office of Multilingual Learning provides professional development for a variety of SPPS educators and staff including:

    Analyze the academic language demands involved in grade-level content teaching and learning. Learn strategies for 

    Professional Development for Co-Teaching Teams

    Co-Teaching teams will have opportunites make shared decisions and co-plan to design lessons for specialized instruction.

    ACCESS for ELs 2.0 Training

    Test administrators will examine a wide range of features of the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 assessment including built-in accommodations, accessibility features and greater logistical flexibility for group administration.  Training for all forms of the ACCESS test are offered including:

    • ACCESS for ELs 2.0 Online Test
    • ACCESS for ELs Paper Based Test
    • Alternate ACCESS Test
    • Kindergarten ACCESS Test

    *Note: The Office of Mulitingual Learning provides ACCESS for ELLs training for test administrators prior to the ACCESS for ELLs assessment.School Assessment Coordinator traning for ACCESS For ELLs is provided by REA. 

    Principles of Language Learning in the Content Areas 

    In this self-paced Schoology course, participants:

    • Explore the Learning for English Academic Proficiency and Success (LEAPS) Act of 2014 
    • Explore EL Provisions in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
    • Gain knowledge and understanding of WIDA's Features of Academic Language and Performance Definitions  
    • Reflect on learning and apply to classroom instruction
