Students and staff spend at least a third of their waking lives at school. That means at least one meal will be consumed while at school. School may also provide the only complete meal for some students whose families are struggling. School also usually serves as the engine for students to learn about various foods and nutrition.
Classroom celebrations, fundraisers, classroom snacks, and concessions/vending are just some of the ways that food plays a part at school, outside of the traditional school lunch.
