Degrees and Certifications:
I have been teaching Children's House at Nokomis Montessori North since 2016. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Bemidji State University. I earned my Master's Degree from Northern Arizona University. I earned my Montessori Certificate from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls.
Pre-K and Kindergarten students in my class will gain independence as they are given the freedom to choose work with Montessori materials in the areas of Math, Language, Geography, Science, Practical Life (life skills), Sensorial (exploration of the senses), Movement, and Art. My favorite Montessori work is the Golden Beads. We use them to make math concepts more understandable.
I live in St. Paul with my husband, two young sons, and our dog. I love to cook, spend time at our cabin, read, and drink coffee.
"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn." ~ Maria Montessori
