IMPORTANT DATES:
- March 17: Registration begins.
- April 15: Priority Registration Date: Register by April 15 for best chance of getting into first program of choice.
- Week of May 2: Confirmation Postcards with enrolled program details (site, location, dates, times) arrive at homes of students enrolled by April 15 Priority Enrollment Date.
- Week of June 6: Transportation information with enrolled program details (site, location, dates, times) arrive at homes of all enrolled students.

ELEMENTARY (GRADES K-4) SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAMS:
Grades K-4 Summer Session
Students will extend their school-year learning through active, fun and hands-on experiences. The program includes activities in math, coding, reading, physical education, economics, health, arts, and studies about Minnesota plants and animals. Small group literacy instruction, community partnerships providing enrichment opportunities, and field trips support discovery of new talents, skills and interests.Program Dates: June 27-July 28 (23 days)

- Dayton’s Bluff Achievement Plus, 262 Bates Ave., Saint Paul (7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)
- EXPO Elementary, 540 Warwick Street S., Saint Paul (7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)
- Riverview West Side School of Excellence, 160 Isabel Street E., Saint Paul (7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)

Students are assigned to a site based on their summer pick-up and drop-off address. Transportation is available for eligible students. See SPPS Transportation Guidelines.
Grades K-4 Language Immersion*
* Includes American Indian Culture and Language Program (formerly called American Indian Program)French, Spanish, Hmong, and Mandarin Chinese Immersion:
Students currently enrolled in SPPS language immersion or dual-language programs qualify to attend. Students receive instruction in both English and the language taught at their school, along with cultural studies and summer-themed activities.American Indian Culture and Language:
American Indian and non-American Indian students develop indigenous cultural awareness. Students learn about native animals, habitats, languages, art, and music along with practicing math and literacy skills. This program is developed in collaboration with the Department of Indian Work.Program Dates: June 27-July 28 (23 days)

Grades K-4 World Cultures & Sports
Students learn about cultures from around the world and participate in daily athletic activities. Themes of social justice and restorative justice practices build leadership and social emotional skills.Program Dates: June 27-July 21 (18 days)
Location: Open World Learning Community, 640 Humboldt Ave., Saint Paul

Grades K-4 Power Scholars Academy
The Power Scholars Academy summer program combines academic instruction with fun, hands-on enrichment activities, field trips and community service projects. The program is designed to help students gain new academic skills so they can excel during the next school year. This program is developed in collaboration with the YMCA and Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood.Program Dates: June 27-August 5 (29 days)
Location: Highland Park Elementary, 1700 Saunders Ave., Saint Paul

Grades K-8 CDF Freedom Schools
Freedom Schools strengthens literacy skills through a researched-based Integrated Reading Curriculum that features books, materials and projects that represent the heritages and experiences of our scholars. Essential features include Hero Elementary K-2; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math instruction; Parent and Family Empowerment Events; Community Engagement; Pathways to Careers; Health and Wellness; Social Action; and Field Trips. Scholars see themselves in our high quality Servant Leader Educators and community leader mentors/role models.Program Dates: June 27-August 5 (29 days)

- Hazel Park Preparatory Academy, 1140 White Bear Ave., Saint Paul

Grades 3-8 E-STEM (Environmental Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Program
Students experience hands-on activities and field trips with a focus on environmental science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Classes and activities include engineering, coding, construction, sports, environmental studies, cooking, and working with computers. This program is sponsored by 3M.Program Dates: June 27-July 22 (19 days)
Location: E-STEM Middle School, 600 Weir Drive, Woodbury

What if I miss the April 15 Priority Enrollment date?
You may still register your student. Confirmation of program details (site, location, dates, times) will be included with the Transportation information mailed the week of June 6.

What grade do I consider my student in when registering?
Your student's current 2021-22 grade level.

Can I register my student for more than one program?
Students may attend just one program.

Do I have to complete an online or paper registration form for each of my students?
Yes.

Can my student attend just some of the days/weeks/times of the program?
Programs are designed for students attending all scheduled days and times.

What if we have a family vacation planned during the program?
The summer program site administrator will work with you to plan for this.

How will my student's special education needs be met?
If your student has an IEP with an accommodation for summer learning instructional support minutes, the Office of Specialized Services provides staff to meet that requirement.

What if my student's IEP does not have any accommodations for summer learning?
Summer staff review IEPs At A Glance to best serve students in ways possible within a class of 20-30 students. Examples of possible accommodations include preferred seating and differentiated levels of reading materials. One on one aids and small class sizes are examples of what is not available unless specifically noted as summer accommodations on a student's IEP. Please contact your student's IEP Manager with questions.
