The Montessori Classroom
In the Montessori classroom emphasis is placed on exploration, observation, self-discipline, and deep thinking skills. A Montessori classroom is comprised of multiple age groupings, allowing younger children to learn by example and older children to serve as helpers and role models. Children stay with the same teacher for two or three years, fostering deeper relationships and stronger community. The classroom environment is intentionally designed with specific materials and real-life items that make the work of the child fun and meaningful.
