AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. The word AVID also means having a strong interest, desire, and enthusiasm for something. AVID students develop a strong desire to be our best selves in school and beyond!
This elective class is for students who have average to high grades and a strong desire to do the work necessary to continue their education. In class, students focus on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading (WICOR). Together, we learn and practice WICOR skills with each assignment.Students support each other to be successful in rigorous courses. AVID students participate in collaborative learning groups and tutorials that increase understanding and develop higher-level thinking skills.
AVID students visit college campuses, participate in community service, and are leaders in school-wide activities. Students also develop positive peer relationships, learn to advocate for themselves, and improve self-awareness.
