WELCOME FAMILIES
Hello all, and welcome to your first grade year! I am so excited to be your teacher and to partner with your family to make this year the best ever! Here is some helpful information as you navigate Distance Learning 2.0! Remember, this is new for everyone, and we will learn and grow together one day at a time!
1. We will be using SeeSaw as our main learning platform this year.
2. Students will access their lessons each day through the daily scheudle posted to their SeeSaw journal. This is your main entrance each day to find your learning materials.
3. If students are having any iPad issues, send a service request to familysupport@spps.org or call (651) 603-4958 between 8am and 4pm Monday-Friday.
4. Asynchronous learning will include both digital activities (SeeSaw, ST Math, Raz kids) and non-digital activities (Math games, independent reading, paper-based work). I will be delivering learning materials bi-weekly on Fridays and will review student paper-based work at that time. It is important that the boxed Distance Learning materials be used only as instructed by the teacher. Asynchronous lessons may include reading, writing, math, skills, science, social studies, social emotional learning, and physical education. It is recommended that students have play breaks between asynchronous learning tasks.
5. Synchronous Learning will follow this schedule:
6. A school day is 6.5 hours including synchronous learning, asynchronous assignments, lunch, and play breaks. Distance Learning time is NOT expected to exceed this timeframe. If you have questions about work load, please let me know.
Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have as we work throughout this very unique school year. My contact information is listed below. I am so excited to continue our amazing first-grade experience!
