Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Michael got her theatre degree from Minnesota State University where she majored in theatre acting and directing. She is currently working towards her masters degree in theatre arts education. Ms. Michael also runs the after school theatre program at HPSH and produces 4 productions a year. She is an advisor for Link Crew, PRIZM Literary/Arts Magazine, and the Dare To Be Real racial justice/social justice program. Ms. Michael is part of the HPSH Equity Team.
Besides teaching and directing at HPSH, Nancy is also the director of the All Children's Theatre Program at the Saint Paul Jewish Community Center and directs a musical each year at Capital Hill.
Before coming to HPSH, Ms. Michael was the executive director of AMAZEworks, a national nonprofit organization that works with teachers and administrators on equity and inclusion. During her 13 years there, she facilitated workshops and training for such organizations as: Head Start, National Association for the Education of Young Children, National Black Child Institute, National Association for Multicultural Educators, National Associiaton of School Social Workers, The White Privilege Conference, and Creating Change Conference. She still works as an equity consultant when she has time. Ms. Michael has also worked for YouthLink - an organization that provides services for homeless teens, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Minneapolis, and was the first education director for SteppingStone Theatre in Saint Paul.
