Greetings, Dayton’s Bluff families!
I have been an educator since 1989. I’ve taught in the classroom, the public library and (primarily) in school libraries. Most of my work was in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Lots of changes in my life led me to Minnesota and I’ve worked for the school districts of Owatonna, Osseo, Robbinsdale and Anoka. I am so happy to now be a part of the Dayton’s Bluff community!
My first college degree is in theater arts. I have acted in over 50 plays and directed several also (Pippin, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Into the Woods and most recently, Mother Wove the Morning to name a few. I’ve worked for two children’s theater companies, improvising shows about real life and make believe worlds.
After deciding the theater career would not be a very stable life, I returned to school and earned a B.S. in Elementary Education. I taught fourth grade for several years, worked on the radio and then at a public library and finally decided to return to college once again for a master’s degree.
I earned my Masters in Education with certifications in elementary education and library media in 2003. All of my degrees are from UW-Eau Claire.
Many of my family members were or are educators including my great grandpa, my grandma, my mom, dad and both sisters. I love to teach because I love children and the amazing worlds of potential inside each of them. I have two of my own (Joshua, a 29 year old actor and Emily, a 26 year old filmmaker). Both live in New York City and I cherish the times I get to see them.
Besides theater, I enjoy yoga, NIA, swimming, dancing, reading, cooking, gardening, singing, making crafts, learning about cultures, sending cards and being outside in nature. I found a church I love (Unity Minneapolis) and am making lots of new and wonderful friends.
I have two grown children who both work in the performing arts.
