Hello! ¡Hola! Bonjour!
My name is Megan Becker and 2020-21 is my second year at Murray Middle School (and my second year of teaching!). I teach "Exploratory World Languages" for 6th graders, as well as Spanish 1A and 1B for 7th and 8th graders. I am excited to be working with all of the great students, families, and staff here at Murray!
I am originally from Blaine, MN, but Saint Paul has been my home more or less for the past 12 years, and I love it here. I also have seven years of experience working for Saint Paul Public Schools already, as an after-school activities site coordinator and instructor for Community Education!
I am a proud graduate of Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN, where I earned my Associate of Arts degree with Emphases in French and Spanish, as well as a Certificate in Spanish, in 2015. I then graduated in May 2018 with my Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish Studies from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. After a full school year of graduate coursework and student teaching (kindergarten at Adams Spanish Immersion Elementary [SPPS], French at Central High School [SPPS], Spanish for Heritage Speakers at Edison High School [MPS], and kindergarten at L'Étoile du Nord French Immersion Elementary [SPPS]), I received my K-12 licenses to teach French and Spanish in May 2019. I also earned my Master of Education degree this past summer of 2020!
Outside of school, I enjoy relaxing at home with my husband (a fellow SPPS teacher) and our two adorable cat-children, and traveling whenever we can! I am also a fanatic about playing ice hockey -- something I have done since I was a kid -- and I play with an awesome team in a local women's league every October through March! Food is another important part of my life and identity, as I have been passionately vegetarian (now vegan) for nearly 13 years and also live with celiac disease and must eat gluten-free.
Feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns via email at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to working together to ensure your or your student's success this year!
- Ms. Becker (aka Señora Becker or Madame Becker)
