About the School Day
During these unusual times caused by the pandemic, the Downtown School has responded boldly. Students use IPads to access their on-line courses. The students' learning day is a blend of on-line teacher virtual classes, in-person teacher classes, and independent asynchronized study.
The school day is from 8:30 AM to 2:15 PM. Students receive instruciton in 4-coure subject areas: English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Clases are taught by licensed Saint Paul School Teachers. Students are also able to participate in enrichment courses focused on college/career exploration, social/emotional learning, decision making, and positive sexual health. Special Ed services are provided to qualifying students.
New this year, we have access to over 700 on-line courses from an innovative on-line educational program called Edgenuity (learn more at Edgenuity.com).
30-hours of classroom instruciton, or approximately 10-weeks of study, equals 1 full credit. Your child's home school can determine how credits earned at the Downtown School can apply towards fulfilling graduation requirements.
DTS receives supplemental Federal funds from Title 1.
