Ms. Abby Kelley-Hands
Hello! I’m Abby Kelley-Hands. This is my first year at Riverview, but it is my 12th year in Education. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History and a Master’s Degree in Education from Augsburg University. I have taught all disability categories of special education, from Kindergarten through age 21 in transition programs.
When I’m not at Riverview, I like to take walks around Como Lake with my family, bake lots of gluten-free and vegan treats, do puzzles, and read.
I live in the Frogtown neighborhood of St. Paul. My husband, daughter, and I love exploring our area on bike and tasting lots of great Asian cuisine in our neighborhood. We also love visiting the libraries of St. Paul and checking out lots of books. I like to read the classics, my husband likes to read nonfiction and philosophy, and my daughter likes to read fantasy books.
I am excited to be Riverview and I am excited to be working in the St. Paul School District. A quote I love is from Parker Palmer: “Good teaching cannot be reduced to technique; good teaching comes from the identity and integrity of the teacher.”
