Ms. Boehm-Turner

Hello! I'm Abby Boehm-Turner, 6th grade English teacher. (The "Boehm" part rhymes with "home" or "poem".....Or do what most people do, and just call me Ms. B-T!)

I began my teaching career in 1999 here at Battle Creek Middle School. After teaching 8th grade English at BCMS for 6 years, I worked as an instructional coach at the district office for a year, and then taught at Murray Junior High and finally at Como Park Senior High. For the past four years, I have been teaching and taking classes at the University of Minnesota while I worked on my PhD. I am thrilled to return to BCMS, where it all began!

I am an avid reader and writer (probably not too surprising for an English teacher). In my free time, I love cooking, baking, biking, hiking, and spending time with my family. My partner is a high school social studies teacher in Hopkins. We have two middle schoolers, a 7th grader (Vi) and an 8th grader (Augie), and a 2 year old pup named Sethra LaDog--named for an undead enchantress and military genius from one of our favorite fantasy series, written by local author Steven Brust. We also recently bought a camper, and are excited for adventures with her. Her name is Gladys, named for a golem in the Discworld fantasy series by Terry Pratchett....Can you sense a theme here?

Email is the best way to get in touch with me, and I will do my best to answer in 24 hours (or even sooner). I'm excited to make this a fantastic year with all of you...please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
