Degrees and Certifications:
Greetings Students, Families, and Loved Ones,
My name is Tom Gardner and I am beyond excited to be apart of the Galtier community. While this is my first year at Galtier, I am not a stranger to St. Paul. I began my career two years ago as a paraprofessional at Eastern Heights Elementary School. It was there, in that role, where I knew I wanted to not only become a teacher, but to serve the students and families of St. Paul. I went on to join the SUTR (Saint Paul Urban Teaching Residency) program where I completed the requirements for a K-6 teaching license and master's degree in Elementary Education, while also co-teaching a 4th grade classroom at Saint Paul Music Academy.
Along with my journey in teaching being in its early stages, so too is my journey as a father. I'm blessed to be the father of two beautiful children: George (6 years old) and Evie (2 years old). In my freetime, I love anything and everything outside. This includes: bike rides, canoe camping, hiking, landscaping, searching for bugs with George, and endlessly chasing Evie around the neighborhood. We currently reside in Saint Paul.
My teaching style begins with establishing positive, nurturing relationships with my students. Given the situation we are in this year, some modifications have to be made in order for me to create these relationships. So, as we step into uncharted waters together this school year, I urge you to reach out to me with questions, concerns, or anything that is on yours or your scholar's mind. While the circumstances in which we live and go to school have changed, my committment and dedication to providing an equitable experience for all of our students has not.
