Areas of support include: reading, math, social studies, science, English/writing and Schoology (Grades 3-12) navigation, technology/device support to support Distance Learning 2.0, and social-emotional support.

A team of Educational Assistants, Teaching Assistants, SPPS temporary staff, retired teachers, contractors, community partners, and volunteers with a background in education and teaching, will provide the support to all students attending the center.

Students can receive 3 hours of support, 3 days/week for approximately 3 weeks per term.

Nutrition Services will provide healthy snacks for all students in the morning and afternoon.

Limited transportation can be arranged via the registration process. The Student Placement Center (SPC) is assisting with the registration, transportation and enrollment of students to ASC program.

Due to other transportation needs (Essential Kids Care, meal delivery, hybrid sites), transportation may not always be available.

Bus cards/tokens will be provided.

We are prepared to welcome 150 students per day. If there are more requests than can be accommodated, there will be a waiting list and students will be prioritized based on academic needs.

The ASC will follow all state guidelines for school settings as required by the Minnesota Department of Health. This includes face coverings for all students and staff, maintaining social distancing and frequent handwashing.

Answer the following four questions prior to sending your child:

1. Did my child recently test positive for COVID-19?
2. Does my child have any of the COVID-19 symptoms listed above?
3. Does my child live with someone who is being tested for COVID-19 or showing symptoms of COVID-19?
4. Did my child have close contact (within 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) with someone who recently tested positive for COVID-19?

If you answered YES to any of the above:

• Reschedule your appointment and contact your child’s healthcare provider.
• Report your child’s symptoms or exposure using the online SPPS COVID-19 Reporting System.
