Mr. Saldana Almaraz is on the Wellstone Food & Nutrition Services Team and has been at the school since February 2021. Brian is a graduate of the Saint Paul Public Schools, having earned his diploma at Washington Technology Magnet School. While in high school, he was awarded a paid internship through Project SEED at the University of Minnesota. This opportunity led to collaborating with professors and graduate students from across the country to publish a paper titled, “Using Microemulsion Phase Behavior as a Predictive Model for Lecithin-Tween 80 Marine Oil Dispersant Effectiveness.” Brian is looking forward to returning to a college campus in the Fall where he has been accepted into a Surgical Services program.

When not at Wellstone Elementary School, Brian coaches the Washington Tech Eagles in baseball at his alma mater. He is also passionate about spending quality time with his family and friends, whether it be going to the gym, having game night, reading non-fiction, jet skiing, boating, riding his ATV, or sledding in the winter.

Although born in Saint Paul, the staff member is eager to live in a warmer climate near the ocean.

A favorite quote of Brian's from the television show, Grey's Anatomy, is, "If I match with you, I will give you the very best of me."
