Ms. Amanda Lea

Ms. Amanda Lea is a teacher in the Dual Immersion program at Wellstone. She has taught for more than ten years in Dual Language and Immersion Programs. Amanda’s classroom experience includes working with Kindergartners, and students in second, fifth and sixth grades in various schools throughout the Twin Cities.  Ms. Lea earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish K-12 Education from the College of St. Benedict, her Dual Language and Immersion Education and Pedagogy Certificate from the University of Minnesota and is nearing completion of her Master’s Degree in Second Language Education.

The educator began learning Spanish in seventh grade and immediately fell in love with the language and culture; opportunities later in high school and college to live for extended periods of time in Costa Rica and Chile.

West Saint Paul is home to this professional. When not at Wellstone, she loves to snuggle with her ten-year-old black cat named Boo, spend time with her family and friends, do yoga, and watch movies with a historical theme and documentaries about animals. The educator also likes to read young adult fiction, fantasy, science fiction and dystopia, crochet, sew, paint, and throw clay. Amanda can also be found in the kitchen whipping up new recipes (especially Asian foods) and baking some of her favorites, including cookies, bars, pies, and lemon meringue.

A favorite quote of the teacher’s is one made famous by Theodore Roosevelt, “Do what you can with what you have, where you are.”
