Hi! I am Ms Eike and this is my first year at Parkway where I will be teaching 6th grade Reading and Writing Workshop. I was previously teaching in Austin Texas where I taught 9th grade English for seven years. I am excited to be back in Minnesota where I am born and raised and excited to be teaching at a new grade level.
I grew up in a small farming town in Southwest Minnesota, Windom, but I always called the Twin Cities and the St. Paul area my second home as I spent a lot of time with my family that lives in the area growing up. And I love that I can now call it my home once again and share it now with my children. When I can I love to explore nature by going on hikes, or just sitting in my front yard. I also enjoy reading, trying new foods, and just being creative.
I attended St. Cloud State University where I first received my B.S. in Mass Communications - Advertising with a graphic design minor. After deciding a career change was needed, I returned to SCSU where I added a major in Communication Arts and Literature to obtain my teaching license. While teaching in Austin Texas I also did extensive training on the workshop model as a member of the Heart of Texas Writing Project (a local chapter of the National Writing Project).
I look forward to being a part of the Parkway community and am excited for the new things this year will bring.
