Culturally Responsive Instruction (CRI) Expo
All Saint Paul Public Schools educators are invited to attend the CRI Expo this June. Across the district we have been conducting book studies on Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain by Zaretta Hammond. At the same time, SPPS teachers have been implementing culturally responsive strategies in their classrooms. We want to showcase these practices!
WHAT IS THE CRI EXPO?
The CRI Expo is a celebration of educators' CRI practices and a professional development opportunity to co-create lesson plans that can be used in the classroom. Keynote presenters with special guests Mayor Melvin Carter and Superintendent Joe Gothard will inspire attendees as they model different ways to share knowledge, include community and engage students.
Keynote presenters include:
- Dr. Artika Tyner, Author/Social Change Speaker
- Brook LaFloe, Educator/Entrepreneur
- Kevin Yang, Spoken Word Artist
- Anh-Hoa Nguyen, Poet/Educator
- Plus special guests Mayor Melvin Carter and Superintendent Joe Gothard
WHEN AND WHERE IS THE CRI EXPO?
The CRI Expo will take place June 21-23 at Washington Technology Magnet. We hope you will attend all three days or any of the three days that interest you. The agenda is forthcoming and will be posted on this website.
WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?
Educators are experts at their craft, and they know SPPS students! The CRI Expo is an opportunity for educators to learn from each other and share resources they can take back to the classroom.
Attendees will receive in-service clock hours toward re-licensure and be compensated at the workshop rate.
Sign up for individual or all days you plan to attend on PowerSchool. We hope to see you there!
