Talisha Jackson

Welcome to Wellstone Elementary!

My name is Talisha Jackson and this is my 1st year as an Assistant Principal at Paul and Sheila Wellstone Elementary.

I am very happy to be a part of this wonderful team.... I look forward to working with the students and supporting them to be the best they can be!!!

I started my educational experience working in early childcare for 5 years before I decided that I needed to go back to school and get a better education for my children. I received my BA in Criminal Justice from Concordia University, in the Twin Cities. I was introduced to the SUTR- Saint Paul Urban Teacher Residency- which encouraged me to go into teaching because I wanted to make a difference in education. I then went back to school to get my MA in education from University of St. Thomas. I currently have an ABS (Academic Behavioral Strategist) teaching license. I started working for SPPS (Saint Paul Public Schools) as a para-professional in the special education department 10 years ago and continue to be a part of SPPS. I worked at Murray Middle School as an EBD Fed III setting teacher before joining the Wellstone Elementary team as an Assistant Principal. I am currently in school at Conordia University, with the hopes of being the BEST me I can be.

I have three beautiful children ( Zareya, who is attending the U of MN, Joshua, who is in High School, and Roderick, who is in elementary). In my free-time, I love spending a lot of time with my children and family.  Family nights and movies are our top focus. I love dancing and making up creative songs.... life is short, so I believe in enjoying every moment.

Everything that I do in education is for every child and every school to strive for inclusiveness. I am a very strong advocate for making sure ALL STUDENTS are included, no matter their race, gender, religion, culture, or background. My work in equity will continue at Wellstone as I work to decrease the racial achievement gap and push to increase more awareness for our students.
