Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Therese O'Meara and I am very excited to join the Linwood-Monroe family this year! I am a Special Education teacher working with students that have an Emotional/Behavioral Disability (EBD). I also will be working with students in their 6th grade Math course.
I grew up in the North Metro and attended College at Augsburg in Minneapolis. I have previously worked with in-home county supports for families which has given me a greater appreciation for my student's home life. I also worked with the A.C.E.S. program in the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis and at Monroe.
Before coming to Monroe, I worked in Charter schools, one focusing on serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the other focused on incorporating the Science and the Arts into daily curriculum. I have enjoyed supporting Drama classes and Transitions services. I also worked with WeDay and was lucky enough to be in the front row of Minnesota's first WeDay last year with my students! We were also invited to meet with Craig Kielburger, where we got to learn more about how we can support our local and global community. I have a passion for engaging students in projects to become more aware and engaged citizens.
